In general :smiley, emoji, emoticon – schematic representation of human’s face, that is used to convey emotions. In spite of the fact that smiley has quite a long history now (first smileys appeared at the end of 19^th century), it became an element of mass culture only with the spreading of Internet and consequently its users. Versatile usage of smileys is caused by human’s desire to identify oneself through schematic picture, to which one’s emotional condition is assigned.
